George Best: Please hurry up and die already!
Pity football legend George Best.
The guy is struggling to live in a London hospital, beset by all manner of illnesses and internal bleeding. If it were anyone else, friends and family would be close by hoping and praying for a miracle.
The British Press? Hell, they can’t wait for the poor bastard to die! To help urge the grim reaper, they’re even splashing loving tributes and obituaries OF SOMEONE WHO IS STILL ALIVE!
Witness, The Sun who exclaim:
BEST: THE END
Or how about The Daily Express:
Football legend George Best will die within hours, his consultant said.
Or, could the jubilant Standard be beaten by saying:
Hope gone for beloved Red Devils icon Best
Good Lord, what kind of world do we live in when an idiot like me has to ask the question: why are people so rushed to judge Best dead before he actually dies??
Don’t get me wrong, I FULLY appreciate that his situation is grave, and that he has a difficult struggle ahead of him to stay alive. But good lord, give the man a chance. Give the man your charity. Give him some hope to stay alive for one more day.
Personally, I have no emotional attachment to Mr. Best. I am not a big fan of football, though I can appreciate he did some magical things on the pitch. But even when the Pope was frail, and on death’s door, I didn’t see the shear VOLUME of press talking about how he would be dead within hours. Its almost as if the press is trying to jump on the Best eulogy bandwagon, before the damn thing is ready to go.
George, while your an alcoholic who has done virtually everything you can do to kill yourself with booze, I for one, hope you make it one last day….just to f*** off the press!

Show some respect! The greatest sporting hero Britain has ever produced does not deserve some insensitive lout willing him not to rally. Good luck, George and keep fighting. We’re all rooting for you. All the best and get fit soon. Love, Scot - a young schoolboy from Glasgow.

Gee Scott,
Not only did you not read the article, you are either a phisher looking for traffic for your site, or a complete and total idiot. Mr. Best has been dead for at least 6 weeks!

I know - but my comp bust soon after he died - so I couldn’t put the tribute on.

My comp actually bust before George died - so I didn’t get the message on - so I wrote it after he died. Sorry. But I still don’t agree with the unsolicited poison you wrote in your message. George was the greatest player to ever grace English soccer and I found him very pleasant. Sleep tight George. We won’t forget you. All my love - Scot.

The reason I didn’t put the tribute on earlier was because my comp was bust. It bust when George got taken unfit the last time and I didn’t get a new one until after he died - in fact, I didn’t know he’d died.

I was actually in Barcelona when he was taken unfit the last time and I didn’t know he’d died until I flew back on the Friday - even though I went to Stormont on the Saturday.

May I please submit a short tribute to the player I idolised on what would have been his 60th birthday? George - a young Scot salutes his idol. You were the greatest player to grace the sport whatever anyone says. Have a marvellous day with Sir Matt and the boys. You’re in the thoughts of all your fans. We love you Georgie. Sleep tight. We’ll never forget you. God bless your sweet spirit. Lots of love for always - Scot.
