		<description>You've hit the nail on the head. Flying people over is so crucial. Not only can you put a name to a face, but they have a better chance to learn about your business. 

Even on a small project, it is money well worth spent. I can't believe someone would think spending a few grand to help improve a project's dynamic would be too expensive!

I found requesting CVs was important and having face-to-face meetings was the most important.  Sometimes, a distant voice can sound rude when, in fact, they are not being rude, it's just how they sound when you meet them.

I also tried to persuade my bosses in the UK to bring developers over from India/Eastern Europe to immerse them into the local development culture so that we all understood each other.  "Too expensive!" was the reply.  They suffered the consequences.</description>
