Pity poor Sgt. Copas. Enlisted in the Army after 9/11 to help his country, learned Arabic, and tried to make the world a better place.

Of course Sgt. Copas is also gay, which means the Army ran him out on a rail! Thank god such patriotic people are kept out of the Army! Damn Heathans.

The best part though, was the line of questioning that supposedly sealed his fate:

On December 2, investigators formally interviewed Copas and asked if he understood the military’s policy on homosexuals, if he had any close acquaintances who were gay, and if he was involved in community theater. He answered affirmatively.

What the hell does Community Theater have to do with being gay? Can someone please answer me that? Ok, so if the question was “Have you now, or ever been involved with the staging of Swan Lake”, that I could see the connection.

Ok, so I’m a little sore on this subject. I spent the better part of my youth in Community Theater (Denton Community Theater if you must know) and the ratio of homosexual to straight men was no different than you would see in your workplace.

Personally, I love Bill Hick’s take on the subject.
