Cool 'n' Casual: Great comments.

1. I know of Appzapper, my point was that this sort of functionality should be in the core OS, and not from a 3rd party app.

2. What I mean is on Linux and XP, you can just unplug a device w/o having to do anything from the OS level. It should really be that easy shouldn't it?

4. Well, I suppose it would be nice if OSX was less geared towards pushing .mac on users. But maybe thats just my problem. ;)

5. I guess I am too old, I find it so much easier to press a secondary button than to have to do the steps you suggest.

7. The problem really isn't with the OSX client. Its just down to the fact that the Windows based clients you have to talk to either don't work, or are awaiting an upgrade.

10: MM - Maybe I am, but really shouldn't a device be idiot-proof? You did see the name of my blog no? :)

1. AppZapper and other free alternatives.

2. What does that mean? You can also eject it by right clicking on it and hitting 'Eject', or pressing the eject button on the right side of the device in the Finder sidebar.

3. I don't need this but this is your first legitimate drawback.

4. Well, you found a pug-in, so what seems to be the problem even now!

5. "OSX has functions and features that require a right mouse button/click, but the only way to do that natively in the Macbook line is to press the control button while pressing down the mouse button."
No, you can tap two finger simultaneously on the trackpad to invoke a secondary click, or you can keep two fingers on the trackpad and press the mouse button. You can also scroll around web pages by dragging your two fingers simultaneously on the trackpad. Try it, it is much more efficient that a physical button for the secondary click.

6. I do not need this features, have never tried it and am therefore in no position to comment on this one.

7. Leopard might fix things. Skype works for me. BTW, AIM has a native client for Mac OS X.

8. Safari sucks. Use OmniWeb or Opera.

9. I love Dashboard as it is and it is incredibly useful for me. You can set a screen corner for invoking Dashboard, makes it a hell of a lot more convenient.

10. Mighty Mouse - You have to lift your index finger from the left of the mouse and then press the right side with your middle finger to invoke a secondary click. I am sure you are doing it wrong.
User Permissions - I don't understand or need this.
Enough with the dotmac/iweb already! - I second that.

Kris: Which button is that?

wooeo: My problem isn't the settings for the right click, its just that the mighty mouse is not so mighty. I dichted it ages ago and just use a normal Windows mouse that has a dedicated right click button.

correction to @2, or you can simply hit the button next to the device that looks like the eject button on apple keyboards.
