Just found an excellent plugin to add Skype support to Pidgim IM (also works for Adium as they both use libpurple).
This in conjunction with the Facebook plugin, make pidgin/adium a kick ass IM solution:
Edit: The only downer of this approach is that Skype has to be running locally in order for the plugin to function....
I've been getting a lot of enjoyment out of my Cruzer U3 portable USB key, one of which is running apps from the key itself instead of the local machine.
One of those apps is the excellent IM client, pidgin. Pidgin supports all the usual protocol's out of the box (AIM, MSN, Gtalk/Jabber, ICQ, Yahoo, etc), as well as a few non standard ones as well (MySpaceIM, Groupwise, and IRC). The only obvious miss was Facebook chat support.
Thankfully however, pidgin has an excellent plugin architecture, and someone has written a plugin to add Facebook support.
